After being given birth on the planet, I collected two gifts, one was the female body, and another the name of my own, Dong Jinling, which was inherited from my father’s surname. In the evolvement of human civilization, reproduction has long been considered as the most sacred responsibility of all females, I am not an exception. On the July 7, 2011, Xiao Fu was born. Before undergoing the labor of childbirth, I had made a decision, that is, I would remove the breastfeeding function of one of my breasts and terminate its responsibility of human reproduction. As I stubbornly insisted on feeding milk only from my left breast, due to the natural growth, my left breast excessively expanded while the right breast stopped milk-secreting after three months, henceforth, the size difference of my breasts increased more apparent. Visually, the symmetry of my body changed; in terms of concept, the subordinate nature of my breasts altered too. In this sense, my left breast hasn’t been a “breast” anymore, “she” is “Dong Jinling”, a piece of my private collection as a work of art.

After Dong Jinling gave birth, she fed her baby with only her left breast. This picture was taken on the first day after she stopped breastfeeding.
