Puzhou, also the name of a fort, is a site associated with maritime war between Qing navy and Britain at the mouth of the Pearl River. The windowpanel oysters, known as sea moon shells in China, are like countless burning moons falling into the water. The thin, cicada-like shells seem fragile and breakable, but they also have the strength of resilience. Like a portal, the circular shape is a symbol of the state of the area of PDR where the river ends and sea begins. It also symbolizes endless death and rebirth.
