Semi-automatic Mode 3: LIU Cong & XIAO Wucong

As an ongoing exhibition project initiated in 2013 at the gallery’s Beijing location, “Semi-automatic Mode” seeks to provide an interplay between “separation” and “combination” for the front and backstage work. Breaking the rules of curating or selecting artworks, it hopes to expand the possibilities of art through a “semi-automatic” production of consciousness.

Both artists’ works are built on the “form” and “colour” of everyday objects, while different materials and internal structures privilege their singular spiritual meanings. Offering a glimpse of Liu Cong’s and Xiao Wucong’s practice, this exhibition creates a portal to a space of imagery for the viewer, who can experience a moment of pure gaze in the axis of body.
